Working with TabiTots.

Seven things to know before applying — eligibility, documents, commission, payouts, and how the platform runs once you're live.

01 · Eligibility

The categories we work with.

If any of these applies to your program, you can apply.

Private kindergartens私立幼稚園
Nursery認可外・認証保育所
International / preschoolインターナショナル・プリスクール
Registered temporary childcare一時預かり事業
In-home babysitting居宅訪問型
After-school care学童保育
Lessons & enrichmentCoding · abacus · calligraphy · tea ceremony · ikebana · dance · sports · shogi
Tutoring学習塾・英会話

No childcare licence required. Lessons, enrichment, and specialty programs take part as schools and programs, not childcare facilities — partners in these categories verify through liability insurance or a governing-body affiliation.

02 · What you provide

Three documents.

All by email. Plain copies are fine — no notarisation required.

01
Entity verification. 履歴事項全部証明書, 登記事項証明書, or 開業届 (sole proprietor).
02
One independent third-party document. Whichever fits your category and is currently in force: most recent 立入調査結果 (≤12 months) · 各種学校設置認可書 + recent review · international accreditation (CIS, NEASC, WASC, ECIS, JCIS, IB, or similar) · governing-body affiliation certificate for 学童保育, lessons, tutoring, or specialty programs · or a current 賠償責任保険証券.

New-facility note: if you're a brand-new 認可外 or 一時預かり under 12 months old and not yet inspected, a 設置届 with the city's 受理印 stands in until your first 立入調査結果 is issued.

03
Signed Partner Safety & Operations Declaration. 運営・安全に関する誓約書 — a one-page form we provide; hanko optional.
03 · Commission & term

8% for 24 months, 12% thereafter.

No listing fee, no setup fee, no per-booking surcharge.

8% Founding Partners · first 24 months
12% Standard rate · month 25 onward

Below the 12–18% range typical for domestic platforms and the 15–25% range typical for international platforms in similar categories.

JCT: Our commission is exempt from Japanese consumption tax — TabiTots is a foreign service provider and not a 適格請求書発行事業者.

04 · Payouts

Direct to your bank via Stripe Connect.

Paid directly to your bank account via Stripe Connect — no intermediate account.
About one week per booking, following the Stripe Japan payout standard — subject to any holds or reviews Stripe applies.
Stripe holds the funds, not us. Booking money is collected and custodied by Stripe, our regulated payments partner; we receive only our commission.
05 · Operating rhythm

What's asked of you, day to day.

Four operating rules. After a booking is confirmed, your staff rarely have to touch it.

Review mode The default. Visits booked 48h+ ahead auto-accept, with a 24-hour safety-veto window to flag a concern. Nearer dates arrive as requests.
Instant mode Optional. Visits booked 24h+ ahead are accepted and final — no veto. Either mode, a request answers within 2 hours (pauses 21:00–08:00 JST); bookings inside 3 hours aren't allowed.
KYC Stripe Connect identity verification — about 30 minutes at signing, at no cost to you. Done once, never repeated.
Parent comms TabiTots mediates every message. You never email, call, or message parents directly — queries route through hello@tabitots.com or the in-app Messages thread.
06 · Cancellation

You're paid in full once cancellation closes.

Predictable for you, fair for parents. Three rules, simply applied.

Before your cancel cutoff Parents cancel free of charge. You choose the cutoff — 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days before drop-off (24 hours by default).
After your cutoff You're paid in full whether the parent shows up or not. Last-minute cancellation, no-show, and sick-child cancellation are all treated the same. The one exception: a child you decline at the door because they can't be safely settled — that day is refunded to the parent and not paid out. (A sick-child decline at the door is still paid in full, like a late cancellation.)
Service failure Rare. If you can't deliver on the day, the refund is deducted from the next payout. Disclosed up front so the first such incident isn't a surprise.
07 · Pickup safety

Verified-photo handover at the door.

Every adult who can collect a child has been identity-verified before the booking is live.

01
Booking parent. Identity-verified by TabiTots before they can book.
02
Designated carers. Anyone besides the booking parent who may collect the child is verified by TabiTots separately.
03
At the door. You open a TabiTots email link showing the carer's on-file verified photo and name, and release the child only on a visual match.
04
Liability. Under the Founding Partner Agreement, responsibility for the handover sits with you.
08 · Session setup

Run it only when it's worth running.

Two optional tools, set per program.

Minimum group Set a minimum group size and a decide-by date — a session forms as bookings come in and confirms once the headcount's met.
Adults joining Offer parent-stay or paid parent-join sessions when they fit your program.

Founding Partner rates close 90 days after the parent app goes public — with priority placement at launch and a permanent badge for the first 100 partners per market.

For families in Japan — local or travelling

Looking for a safe place to drop your child for a few hours or a few days?

Verified providers, not random sitters.

Every provider is real, registered, and verified before it's bookable — an international school, kindergarten, preschool or licensed childcare, an after-school program, a lessons or tutoring class, or a vetted in-home babysitter. Qualified staff, and the safety standards set by Japanese authorities. The same providers resident families use year-round, now bookable by the hour or day.

Other international kids.

Your child spends the day with kids from expat, third-culture, and travelling families like yours. Most programs lead in English, with Japanese woven in naturally — kids find their footing in the group quickly, often within the first morning.

A real day, whatever the day.

Some programs run a full day — art, music, outdoor play, lunch, sometimes a nap. Others are a focused class or supervised free play. Either way: qualified teachers and staff, English-friendly support when you need it, and a real day off for you.

TabiTots is almost ready — we're putting the final touches on the app. Leave your email and we'll let you know the moment you can start booking.
