About

A three-hour Sunday session for primary and secondary-school children, at the Kichijoji studio. Three hours is long enough to carry one idea all the way through — to take something apart, work out what to do with the parts, get it wrong, and build the thing properly. It moves between art, making and programming, and much of the material started life as something discarded: offcuts of thinned Tokyo hinoki, packaging foam, drinks cans. The studio's regular date is the 2nd Sunday of the month, and other Sundays can be opened on request. The usual start is 13:30, and that can be arranged around you too. A one-off visit — no enrollment, no joining fee. Led in Japanese, three children per session.

Requirements

  • From primary-school age, drop-off is fine from the first session.
  • Either way, please stay in the Kichijoji area for the duration of the session, in case of an emergency.

Nothing else is needed — every material and tool is provided.
