About

A day on the farm for children from six months to five years old, in two lengths: until lunch, or the full day through the afternoon nap to the late-afternoon close. The day is built outdoors — digging in the earth mound, work in the vegetable fields, a walk into the forest — with a warm wooden house to come back to when the weather turns or a child wants a quiet corner. Children of every age play together rather than in year groups. A full-course lunch cooked from the nursery's own natural-farming fields can be added to either course, as can individually prepared weaning food, and a snack or a light meal in the afternoon on the full day (Wednesdays are a packed-lunch day). Children on the full day change into pyjamas for an afternoon nap. Four staff are on site as standard, among them a licensed childcare worker, an outdoor-activity instructor and a kindergarten teacher. You can book a single day, or several days across a week. Care is in Japanese.

Meals

Meals are not included in the course fee: the lunch, the weaning food and the two afternoon options are chosen and paid for per booked day. The afternoon snack and the afternoon meal are served on the full-day course only. Lunch is cooked from vegetables and rice grown on our own natural-farming fields and bought, wherever possible pesticide-free, from partner farms nearby — a seasonal, local full-course meal prepared by the owner-chefs of the organic cafés Suru-su and Hasunomi. Children sometimes cook it outdoors themselves. Seasonings are made in-house or by traditional methods, and nothing contains synthetic flavour enhancers. We do what we can for allergies, fussy eaters and children who are under the weather. Weaning food is prepared individually, and we take frozen breast milk and formula. On Wednesdays please send a packed lunch.
