Gaigo Center Mitaka
About
Gaigo Center Mitaka is a learning studio one minute from Mitaka Station in Tokyo — part of a family of classrooms (Miyamoto Soroban, KAI Arithmetic & Mathematics, and the Foreign Language Center) run by Nihon Human Ware Kenkyūkai (有限会社日本ヒューマンウェアー研究会) under representative Kentarō Miyamoto. Its abacus school has served the local community for over 50 years, teaching a distinctive method that builds arithmetic and clear thinking from abacus-based mental calculation — the aim is less to memorise than to think for yourself. It offers hands-on experiences for ages 6 and up: Japanese abacus (soroban) with arithmetic puzzles, and a compass-and-drawing “math art” class. Small groups, grown-ups welcome, and simple English support on request.
