About

A karate experience for children with a parent or guardian accompanying (ages 5–18). This is a program where overseas tourist families join the regular practice attended by Japanese children and experience karate, a Japanese martial art. Participation takes the form of “guest participation” in the normal membership-based practice, so you can experience the dojo’s atmosphere and Japanese martial-arts culture as they truly are. The location is Bunkyō Ward, Tokyo — a local community. Members range from age 4 to 89, all practicing karate. Practice centers on etiquette (reihō), basic movements, and a simple kata, in a safety-conscious program; instructors give attentive support so beginners can join comfortably. Held Wednesday evening, 6:30–8:10 PM at a public martial-arts hall in Bunkyō Ward. A parent or guardian accompanies each child; you are welcome to watch (free) or join in and take part yourself.

To the teachers, students and parents of the dojo. Thank you so much for the truly wonderful opportunity. For our child, and for our family, it was precious time that brought great growth through budo. The certificate is a lovely keepsake as well. We are sincerely grateful for your warm welcome.
